About the artist…

Born in Seoul, Korea, Erica Weiss immigrated to the United States at age 15 with her family in 1975. She earned her Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts degree in Graphic Design from the University of Akron in 1982 and has continued her studies in many art disciplines including painting, ceramics, printmaking, metalsmithing and interior design. Most recently, she completed a eight-week spring concentration in drawing, painting & printmaking at the Penland School of Crafts and encaustic painting workshop at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts.
Her artistic career began by creating display designs and window displays for several major department stores in Cleveland and in Chicago.
Her work has been exhibited in numerous art shows and her work is acquired by art collectors from all over the United States. Weiss’ work is shown at Juma Gallery, a retail art gallery owned by the artist, located in the historic Little Italy art district on Cleveland’s Eastside.
The paintings of Erica Weiss expresses individualism and flair by utilizing vivid, lush and subtle blends of colors with an array of mixed media to create contemporary abstract compositions which often leads to the tranquil minimalism.
